Central Romana Corporation

Founded in 1912, Central Romana Corporation, Ltd. is a leading sugar conglomerate and tourism operator in the Dominican Republic. The company also invests in health, livestock, meat and dairy production, airport and port operations, iron and building materials, and chemicals. In 1947, Central Romana established the Department of Agricultural Research, and developed and patented a range of fifteen unique sugarcanes that can adapt to low fertility calcareous soils, are able to tolerate long periods of drought, and are resistant to pests. In addition to their agricultural innovation, Central Romana has created social programs dedicated to supporting health, education, housing and food in the Dominican Republic.
